“The Giver” Book Sleeve Design

I designed this book sleeve for the book "The Giver" by Lois Lowry. "The Giver" is about a society that does not know true emotion or color or any history. They live in a strict and structured society. I wanted to use the background to portray the setting of the book as black and white, boxed in, and structured. The side profile on the cover represents the main character Jonas as he is the receiver of memories. I used color and different shapes to represent the emotion and color he receives from the giver. Then on the inside I have one red square on each page to represent the color red seeping into the black and white because it is the first color he starts to see.
